Dish Food & Events, a Long Island City, NY based off-premise catering company is seeking a prep cooks to join our team of culinary professionals. This job is located in Brooklyn, NY.

JOB OVERVIEW

  • Prep cooks will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to prepare food for high end special events including large scale weddings, gala dinners, cocktail events and corporate/social drop off catering.

  • Must have flexibility with schedule requirements. There are opportunities to work morning, evening and weekend shifts.

  • Weekend and occasional holiday work will be required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior prep cook or line cook experience required

  • High volume catering experience preferred

  • General knife handling, food safety & sanitation knowledge

  • NYC food handler's license preferred

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment

  • Work well in a team environment

  • Able to take constructive criticism, learn quickly and constantly improve

  • Ability to lift up 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in preparing delicious menu items for daily catering and event orders

  • Maintain cleanliness of all Back of House work areas, including and not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas

  • Safely operate kitchen equipment
